Beyond the modeler and the runtime, the surrounding Mendix platform experience is what helps teams plan, guide, and share their work. This piece looks at that layer – the Mendix Portal, Compass, feedback and insights, and the Marketplace – and how each supports getting the right work done and getting it in front of the right people.
Compass digital-transformation guidance
Compass helps you plan and govern your digital transformation with structured, personalized guidance. A guided Maturity Assessment walks you through key organizational areas with a questionnaire and produces tailored recommendations and prioritized next steps based on Mendix’s “5 Ps” framework. Compass also keeps that guidance actionable over time: My Action Points surfaces your assigned tasks for continuity, while Recommended for You offers smart suggestions based on where you are in your journey across all five Ps. A refreshed landing page makes Compass’s purpose and the value of the digital execution practice clearer from the start.
Feedback and insights
App Insights gives teams a cleaner, more organized way to manage user feedback as volumes grow. You can merge duplicate or fragmented feedback items into a single story to cut down on redundancy, and organize feedback into groups by feature area, priority, release milestone, or custom categories – adding items to or moving them between groups for easier triage and prioritization.
- In Epics, feedback linked to a story is visible directly within the story details, so insights stay connected to the work without switching tabs.
Mendix Portal experience
The Mendix Portal is redesigned around finding what you need and onboarding faster. Portal search uses a compact, scrollable layout with keyword highlighting and instantly categorizes results by content type across Docs, Marketplace, Community, and Academy, plus “Quick Links” and “Recently Visited” sections for fast access. New users land on role-specific onboarding homepages tailored to developer and business (Program Owner) personas, with personalized feature recommendations to guide them.
- The project homepage surfaces key insights and development updates, helping teams prioritize what to work on next.
- Community Events 2.0 adds an integrated event-creation platform with RSVP management, notifications, and community engagement tools directly in the Portal.
Marketplace
Publishing and maintaining Marketplace components is more capable and transparent. The component upload flow is a guided four-step process with a preview before publication, and supports multiple developer owners, multiple resource links, documentation materials, and up to 10 screenshots plus one video per component. Suppliers can also flag components as deprecated and optionally recommend alternatives – deprecation notifies subscribers, lowers the component’s search ranking, and shows the deprecated status in Software Composition, giving consumers clear retirement guidance.
- The Marketplace Components page uses a datagrid instead of a card layout for a clearer overview with version details, and a context menu on the component detail page lets suppliers start the edit flow or initiate a new release directly.
- Marketplace subscription notification emails include the component’s release notes, so you can see what changed in an update without visiting the Marketplace page.
